It's his last stop of a two day tour in the state of Iowa. Vice President Joe Biden will make a stop at the Clinton Firefighter's Association Local 609 today for a private event with supporters.
Yesterday, the Vice President was in Waterloo talking to union workers and visited a local grocery store. Today, he'll speak about the economy in Dubuque at the Grand River center before making a stop in Clinton around 1 pm.
Local leaders say Clinton could definitely use a boost.
"We're a blue collar community," says Mark Vulich, Clinton Mayor. "We're a community that's very depressed as far as employment. So I think the fact he's taking the time to stop in Clinton shows that we're here and he shows an interest in trying to help us out."
The mayor of Clinton says he hasn't seen this kind of buzz since former president George H. W. Bush visited the town in the 1980's.
"That was a very exciting time - having the secret service come and he was in the parade," Vulich adds. "It creates a buzz in the community. Anytime people come from Washington D.C., it's an exciting moment."
This isn't the first visit to the area for the Vice President, Biden visited Davenport just three months ago.
The event is closed to the public, but leaders are encouraging everyone to avoid the area if you're not coming to the event since security will be tight.
