Area soldier killed in Afghanistan

A soldier from the Quad City area has been killed in Afghanistan. Specialist Bryant Luxmore, 25, of New Windsor, Illinois died Sunday.

Luxmore suffered fatal wounds from enemy small arms fire in Panjwai, Afghanistan. He had been assigned to the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division out of Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Luxmore had been in the Army for 14 months. He is survived by a wife and stepson.
