Steve Campbell joined the CBS4 News team in April 2011 as the weekend sports anchor/reporter. He is very familiar with the Quad Cities area having grown up just two hours east in the small town of Maple Park, Illinois. He then attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, and graduated with a degree in TV/Radio and Journalism.
At St. Ambrose, Steve was the lead play-by-play voice for Fighting Bee athletics. He earned 1st place awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association for radio play-by-play in 2008 and 2009, a 2nd place for TV play-by-play in 2008, and 3rd place for TV in 2009.
Before joining the CBS4 Sports team, Steve worked at WQAD-TV in Moline, Illinois where he was a news reporter/photographer and fill-in sports anchor.
When not covering sports at CBS4, Steve's mind is still wrapped around sports. He's an avid (some may say obsessive) fan of the Chicago White Sox, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bulls and Illinois Fighting Illini, but he loves a rivalry which makes covering sports so fun for him. The rivalries around the Quad Cities that range from Hawkeyes-Illini, Bears-Packers, Cubs-White Sox and any match-up in the MAC or Western Big 6 are what makes the Quad Cities a very unique and great sports area to cover.
Besides following sports, Steve also loves to play sports (though not very well), play and listen to music, go hiking and camping, and collect baseball cards and lapel pins.
