DEKALB, Ill. (AP) _ Ryanne Mace's mother says her only daughter was studying psychology at Northern Illinois University so that she could help people.
Mary Kay Mace says her 19-year-old daughter wanted to become a counselor. Ryanne Mace of Carpentersville was one of five people killed by a former NIU graduate student on campus Thursday.
She was a 2006 graduate of Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville and a recipient of a scholarship from the high school's French Club. Her mother says she was ``beautiful and brilliant and caring.''
Ryanne Mace had recently posted a Happy Valentine's Day message on her MySpace page that said, ``Saying you love someone is not enough, it's how you treat them that shows your true feelings.''
