With summer on the way a lot of people are taking off on vacation leaving a shortage of volunteer emergency medical technicians behind.
The Andalusia Volunteer EMT Department wants to fill that void. The unit serves a large area, from Muscatine, Iowa to Mercer County, Illinois. The department is looking for volunteers who want to help others and are willing to take the time to train.
"This means we respond to our neighbors and they appreciate it.," says Andalusia EMT, Jan Dunlap. "When we walk in the house the relief on their face is part of the battle. They've relaxed a little and the situation's already getting better."
The department will pay for your training. If you would like to volunteer call the Andalusia EMT Department at 786-5406.
