CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - A coalition of organizations advocating gay rights has planned a rally in Cedar Falls on the day the U.S. Supreme Court issues rulings in two closely watched cases. The groups Americans for Democratic Action, One Iowa, UNI Proud and Sissy's Sircus say they will hold the rally at 5:30 p.m. the day of the decisions later this month at the corner of Main Street and University Avenue in Cedar Falls.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The World Food Prize Foundation says former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will attend events in conjunction with the prize's award ceremony to be held in Des Moines in October. The Borlaug Dialogue events honoring Norman Borlaug, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 and founder of the World Food Prize, are scheduled for October 16th through 18th.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - William Krause, the co-founder of Iowa-based convenience store chain Kum and Go, has died. The company says Krause died this morning at his West Des Moines home after being treated for cancer. He was 78. Kum and Go is the country's fifth largest privately held convenience store chain. The company is based in West Des Moines.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Iowa says that reserve guard Kathy Thomas is transferring. Hawkeyes coach Lisa Bluder announced today that Thomas has been released from her scholarship after two seasons. She says the Flint, Michigan native wanted to play closer to home.
